Welcome
Feminist Foreign Policy Ambassador and Director for Human Rights and Global Health
Since August 2023, Gesa Bräutigam has been the first Feminist Foreign Policy Ambassador at the Federal Foreign Office. She is also the Director for Human Rights and Global Health.

The position of Feminist Foreign Policy Ambassador was established within the context of the Guidelines for Feminist Foreign Policy in order to foster the implementation of gender-equitable and thus better and more effective foreign policy.
Gesa Bräutigam coordinates so‑called mainstreaming – i.e. the comprehensive consideration of the needs of women and marginalised groups throughout our foreign policy. She represents the Federal Foreign Office in international bodies focusing on human rights and gender issues and promotes a gender-equitable foreign and security policy.
Through its feminist foreign policy, the Federal Foreign Office works to strengthen the rights, representation and resources of marginalised groups throughout the world, with a special focus on long‑term support for women and girls.
