Welcome
The Regional German Information Centres – Germany’s communication hubs around the world
With communication hubs on three continents, the Federal Foreign Office contributes to conveying a fact-based and modern image of Germany on social media and provides information on the priorities and values of Germany’s foreign policy.
The Federal Foreign Office aims to engage in dialogue with people around the world regarding Germany’s foreign policy and to explain and justify its goals and rationale. To achieve this, the Federal Foreign Office employs a network of five Regional German Information Centres. These communication hubs help to convey a fact-based and modern image of Germany on social media.
The Regional German Information Centres provide information about the priorities of German foreign policy and present a modern image of Germany. Their channels are followed by over 4.2 million people on social media. Moreover, the centres provide German embassies and consulates in the regions in question with communication materials for their social media channels that are tailored to the local languages, debates and links to Germany. They present fact-based information and thus contribute to an improved understanding of German foreign policy. Not least, they help to tackle the disinformation spread on social media.
The five centres each have a different regional emphasis. In Dakar, the focus is on francophone Africa, in Cairo the Arabic-speaking world, in Pretoria anglophone Africa, in Mexico Spanish-speaking Latin America, and in Singapore South-East Asia and the Indo-Pacific.
