Foreign Minister Maas visits Sofia
Heiko Maas received his Bulgarian counterpart Ekaterina Zaharieva in Berlin. “The Bulgarian EU Council Presidency has injected fresh impetus into prospects of joining the EU for the countries of the Western Balkans,” Foreign Minister Maas stated.
Foreign Minister Gabriel said: “In signing the treaty, the two countries are sending an important message as regards successful bilateral and regional cooperation in the Balkans.”
Michael Roth called for the judicial reform in Bulgaria to be continued without delay. He also emphasised Bulgaria’s geostrategic significance as a neighbour of both Greece and Turkey.
