Markus Löning: Release Azerbaijan’s demonstrators
Markus Löning, the German Government’s Commissioner for Human Rights Policy, issued the following statement today (26 January) in response to the arrests made after a demonstration in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan:
I call on the Azerbaijani authorities to release all peaceful protesters with immediate effect. In acceding to the Council of Europe, Azerbaijan has committed itself to protecting freedom of opinion.
