Welcome
Foreign Minister Steinmeier on the International Day against Nuclear Tests
Foreign Minister Steinmeier issued the following statement today (29 August) on the International Day against Nuclear Tests:
Although crisis diplomacy is often the main item on the agenda at the moment, we must not lose sight of our long-term disarmament efforts.
Germany is vigorously to lobby intensely for the entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, which would make the development and upgrading of nuclear weapons significantly more difficult, thus greatly enhancing security for the international community.
I call in particular on the states that are still hesitant as regards implementing the Treaty to join us, with courage and determination, in making the world somewhat safer.
