Foreign Minister Westerwelle will tomorrow (24 October) open the high-level Plenary Meeting of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR).
The MTCR is the main multilateral forum for combating the proliferation of ballistic and cruise missiles as well as unmanned aerial vehicles. At the MTCR Plenary, which is an annual event, fundamental issues concerning the Regime’s future development will be discussed and Germany will take over as MTCR chair. The meeting will be attended by 250 experts from the Regime’s 34 partner countries.
The MTCR was established by the G7 25 years ago as an export control mechanism.
