Global issues such as greater use of renewable energies, climate protection and a return to financial stability and global economic growth will be the focus of the EU-Rio Group Ministerial Meeting. Günter Gloser, Minister of State for Europe, will participate in the meeting in Prague on 12 and 13 May.
The Rio Group is an important regional forum for political consultation, which today comprises 23 states in Latin America and the Caribbean. The EU's dialogue with the Rio Group was established by the Declaration of Rome, where the first joint Ministerial Meeting was held in 1990. The meetings take place every two years, alternating with the EU-Latin American and Caribbean Summit.
