Today (26 November) Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier sent a letter congratulating his new Slovenian counterpart Samuel Zbogar on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The congratulatory letter reads as follows:
“Please accept my sincere congratulations on your appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and allow me to wish you good luck, stamina and every success in carrying out this responsible task.
Our two countries are close partners in NATO and the European Union. I well remember our good working relationship during our Trio Council Presidency. I am certain that we will continue to cooperate closely and in a spirit of mutual trust in tackling the challenges ahead, for example the ratification and implementation of the Lisbon Treaty. Let us work together to further develop and intensify the excellent relations between our two countries.
I am pleased that Slovenia's foreign policy can draw on the wealth of diplomatic experience you have gained over the years as your country's ambassador in various postings and as State Secretary. I am especially happy to have, in you, a counterpart with such excellent knowledge of German language and culture. I hope that we will soon have the opportunity to exchange views in person.”
