Today (19 November) Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier sent a letter congratulating his New Zealand counterpart Murray McCully on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The congratulatory letter reads as follows:
"Please accept my sincere congratulations on your appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand and allow me to wish you strength, good luck and every success in carrying out the demanding duties of your new office.
Germany and New Zealand share a long tradition of cooperation in the areas of politics, culture and science which is shaped by a special friendship and mutual trust. Let us work together to continue developing the excellent relations between Germany and New Zealand and to address the important issues facing both of our countries.
I am very much looking forward to working with you and would gladly welcome the opportunity for a personal exchange of thoughts in the near future."
