Tomorrow (Friday, 14 November), Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will meet the President of Turkmenistan, Mr Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for an exchange of views.
The discussions will centre on bilateral, regional and current international issues.
Central Asia is becoming ever more important for European and international politics. The European Union is keenly interested in enhancing its partnership with the states of Central Asia. During Germany's EU Presidency in the first half of 2007, the EU drew up a strategy on Central Asia. This document set out the first ever political guidelines on enhanced European engagement in the region.
