Federal Minister Steinmeier shocked by suicide attack in Afghanistan

Two German ISAF soldiers lost their lives today in a suicide bombing near Kunduz in northern Afghanistan. Five Afghan children were killed. Two further German soldiers and another Afghan child were wounded.

Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed his shock and issued the following statement in Berlin today (20 October):

“The Federal Government condemns this murderous attack in the strongest terms. Together with the Afghan authorities we will do our utmost to investigate the incident and bring those behind it to justice.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the families, colleagues and friends of the victims and wish those who have been injured a rapid and complete recovery.”
