Yesterday (27 September), the Security Council of the United Nations unanimously adopted a new resolution on Iran. The text refers to the previous Security Council resolutions and calls on Iran to fully comply with its obligations arising from these resolutions forthwith. At the same time the Security Council reiterates its intention to continue to work towards a swift negotiated settlement with Iran.
In Berlin today (28 September), Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier issued a statement welcoming the adoption of this resolution:
“The resolution shows that the international community remains united. Iran can gain a great deal by setting out along the path of cooperation. Tehran must, however, finally stop pursuing its nuclear adventures.”
