Following the attacks in the Indian cities of Ahmedabad and Bangalore, Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier today (27 July) sent the following telegram offering condolences to his Indian opposite number Pranab Mukherjee:
“I am appalled by the news of the bombings in Bangalore and Ahmedabad that have taken so many innocent lives.
Permit me to offer you and the families of the victims my sincere condolences and to wish the many casualties a speedy recovery.
Those responsible for these heinous deeds must be called to account as soon as possible.
We cannot often enough stress that terror and violence can never be a means to achieve political ends.”
