Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the death of former Polish Foreign Minister Bronislaw Geremek

13.07.2008 - Press release

“The news of Bronislaw Geremek's demise fills me with deep sadness. We have lost an upright politician and friend who courageously fought lifelong for his country's freedom. We in Germany will gratefully recall his committed and persistent work as Foreign Minister in shaping and enhancing German-Polish relations. For him Poland's place was always at the heart of Europe. European integration was one of his primary concerns, and he was active to the end in that quest as a Member of the European Parliament.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this difficult time.”
