Yesterday evening, following the successful formation of a new government in Serbia, the Serbian Parliament also approved the new cabinet. Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier today (8 July) congratulated his Serbian opposite number Vuc Jeremić on his reappointment. The letter of congratulation reads as follows:
“Let me warmly congratulate you on being reappointed as Foreign Minister of the Republic of Serbia.
I am pleased that Serbia has a new government which aims for swift progress towards bringing your country closer to the EU. I hope the remaining obstacles will be addressed decisively, thus sending a clear signal that Serbia is a member of the European family. This also implies full cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia at The Hague. Germany will continue to support your country's reform efforts in any way it can.
For your new term in office I wish you great stamina and every success. I am confident that we will maintain our good and trustful cooperation.”
