Nuremberg Declaration on Peace and Justice

Today (20 June) Germany, along with Finland and Jordan, forwarded the “Nuremberg Declaration on Peace and Justice” to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. This declaration reflects the conclusions of the international conference entitled “Building a Future on Peace and Justice” held in Nuremberg in June 2007, which was organized by the three countries together with civil-society organizations from four continents and attended by representatives of over 60 countries. The Declaration contains specific experiences of peace mediation and the promotion of human rights, the rule of law and reconciliation. It features a number of principles and recommendations on how to achieve peace and justice in post-conflict situations.
