Following the military clashes at the ceasefire line in the conflict over Nagorny Karabakh, the Federal Government has called upon the parties to the conflict to exercise restraint. It appeals to the parties to the conflict to refrain from further violence. This week the parties to the conflict engaged in one of the worst clashes since the 1994 ceasefire which ended the war over Nagorny Karabakh.
Federal Foreign Minister Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier today (6 March) issued the following statement in Brussels:
"I am very concerned about the most recent armed clashes. Both sides have suffered injuries and fatalities. I therefore urge the parties to the conflict to exercise unconditional restraint, to refrain from further attacks and to strictly observe the ceasefire.
We fully support the Minsk Group's efforts to broker a peaceful solution to the Nagorny Karabakh conflict."
