Two Polish soldiers serving with the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) lost their lives on Tuesday evening, while a further soldier was injured. Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed his condolences to his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski and the Polish people in a letter:
I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn that two Polish soldiers from the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) lost their lives in Paktika Province on Tuesday evening and that a further soldier was injured.
Allow me to extend my sincere condolences to you, your Government and the Polish people and to wish the injured soldier a speedy and complete recovery. In particular, our thoughts are with the friends and families of the victims.
