Several people were killed again today (25 January) in an attack in a Beirut suburb in Lebanon. Federal Foreign Minister Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier condemned the bloody attack in the strongest possible terms:
“I was deeply concerned to learn that yet again several people, including a member of the Lebanese security forces, have fallen victim to the violence in Lebanon. The Federal Government condemns this latest attack in the Beirut area in the strongest possible terms. It utterly deplores the motive behind this attack, namely to destabilize Lebanon politically and stoke the violence in that country.
I once more strongly urge all political forces in Lebanon and throughout the region to stop the violence at root and to allow for the immediate election of a new President and the formation of a government on the basis of the Arab League initiative.
I would like to express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims, and wish those injured a speedy recovery.”
