The Federal City of Bonn, second seat of the Federal Government and the Federal President, has particular political significance as the main seat of the United Nations (UN) in Germany and as a hub for international cooperation, sustainable development and innovation. The Federal Foreign Office maintains a Liaison Office in Bonn as a point of contact for international organisations based in Germany.
The Liaison Office is responsible for coordinating matters related to the UN Campus in Bonn, as well as for attracting and accommodating new institutions and regulating status issues for all international organisations based in Germany. It is responsible for dealing with all consular/protocol issues for the staff of all 33 UN institutions (24 of which are based in Bonn) and of the other 21 international organisations based in Germany.
