Minister of State Cornelia Pieper opens China’s largest higher-education trade fair in Beijing

Minister of State Cornelia Pieper is travelling to Beijing today (19 October) for the opening of China’s largest higher-education trade fair, the China Education Expo 2012 (CEE). While there, she will hold talks with Vice Minister of Education Hao Ping and Vice Chairman of the autonomous region Xinjiang Jin Nuo focussing on expanding cooperation in the field of higher education and vocational training.

Before leaving on her trip, Minister of State Pieper issued the following statement today (19 October) in Berlin:

“At more than 30 exhibition stands, over 100 German representatives from traditional universities, universities of applied sciences and intermediary organizations will take part in China’s largest trade fair for education. Germany is the guest of honour this year.
This is a clear signal that Germany, with its strong universities and research landscape, is very interested in establishing a strategic, long-term cooperative partnership with China.”

The Minister of State is accompanied by the Secretary-General of the German Academic Exchange Service, Dorothea Rüland.
