We are currently conducting talks on the future civilian operation of Kabul airport, with the aim of ensuring that people can be evacuated on civilian flights at a later date. Preparations are underway for the airport to be operational for civilian flights. The first flights, bringing for example humanitarian assistance, have landed.
We are in close contact with our international partners to help German nationals and persons who Germany has offered the prospect of admission to leave the country by air. As soon as specific opportunities emerge, for example the option of being flown out by our partners, the Federal Foreign Office will, as quickly as possible, contact the people who are eligible to leave the country. We will inform these people individually about how to proceed.
