International climate change conference at the Federal Foreign Office

07.10.2011 - Press release

In many parts of the world, effects of changes in the climate pose a threat to peace and stability. Due in no small part to initiative taken by Germany, the United Nations Security Council and the EU have emphatically underscored the relevance of climate change to security policy.

In order to harness the new international momentum on this issue, the Federal Foreign Office is working in collaboration with the think tank adelphi to host an international conference on 10 and 11 October in Berlin, entitled “Climate Diplomacy in Perspective: From Early Warning to Early Action”.

Minister of State Cornelia Pieper will open the conference. A detailed event programme is enclosed.
