Foreign Minister Westerwelle on the election of the President of the 67th session of the UN General Assembly

Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement today (8 June) on the election of the President of the 67th session of the UN General Assembly:

“I congratulate Foreign Minister Jeremic on his election today as President of the upcoming 67th session of the UN General Assembly.
He will assume this office at a time when the General Assembly is grappling with important global issues of peace and security, development and the environment, human rights and humanitarian policy.
I wish Vuk Jeremic every success and a sure hand in fulfilling the responsibilities of his new position. Germany will do everything it can to support him as he does so.”

Vuk Jeremic is the Serbian Foreign Minister and was today elected President of the upcoming 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He will assume office in September, when the 67th session of the UN General Assembly opens.
