North Korea’s ambassador has been summoned to the Federal Foreign Office.
- date of issue
In the light of North Korea’s announcement that it would shortly be conducting another missile test, the country’s ambassador was today summoned to the Federal Foreign Office at the behest of Foreign Minister Westerwelle.
It was impressed on the ambassador that Minister Westerwelle and the German Government have a clear position on this matter: North Korea’s announcement that it would shortly be conducting another missile test was a setback and cause for concern. The planned missile test would constitute a breach of North Korea’s international obligations and undermine peace and stability in the region.
North Korea was once again strongly warned to refrain from taking any provocative steps that could impede efforts aimed at deescalation and rapprochement.
