In this function he holds several corporate mandates, including membership of the supervisory boards of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the German Investment and Development Company (DEG) and Germany Trade and Invest (GTaI), as well as the steering board of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and the board of trustees of the Roland Berger Foundation.
State Secretary Braun was made an honourary citizen of Washington, DC, in 2002. He is also a Grand Officer of the French Legion of Honour, a Knight Grand Cross of the Italian Order of Merit and bearer other honours.
