The AFRIKA KOMMT! initiative helps future leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa hone their skills. The young African participants spend a year in Germany to familiarize themselves with the country’s business practices and culture.
AFRIKA KOMMT! participants at the Federal Foreign Office
15 African participants and representatives of leading German businesses came to visit the Federal Foreign Office on 27 June. The event here marked the end of the second training programme run by the AFRIKA KOMMT! project, which was launched in 2008. The participating firms hope to contribute through the programme to sustainable economic development in African countries.
The AFRIKA KOMMT! initiative is actively supported by 19 German businesses and implemented with the assistance of GIZ International Services. This year’s participants come from Botswana, Gabon, the Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. The Federal President is the patron of AFRIKA KOMMT!, which is supported by the Federal Foreign Office under the Federal Government’s Strategy for Africa.
In the Foreign Office, the participants discussed their personal experiences of the programme and the basic direction it should take. At the end of the day a ceremony was held at which they received their course certificates from Clemens von Goetze, the Foreign Office Director-General for Political Affairs.
