As a threat multiplier, climate change can exacerbate existing conflicts, for example over access to resources. Extreme weather events caused by climate change, such as tornadoes, drought and floods, and their impact (conflicts triggered by food and drinking‑water shortages and migration) have the potential to destabilise entire regions. Rising sea levels and the resulting loss of territory also harbour considerable potential for conflict. more
