Berlinale Celebrates with 400 Films

The birthday cake of nearly 400 films has been baked,” announces festival director Dieter Kosslick. The 60th Berlin International Film Festival begins on 11 February. The flurry of flashbulbs, the red carpet, the film stars: the Berlinale promises ten days of great cinema in the German capital.

New environmental zones in major German cities

Traffic sign for environmental zones

Over the next two years, starting from 1 January 2008, environmental zones are to be designated in 20 German cities. Only vehicles displaying on their windscreens a "Feinstaubplakette", a special emissions-control sticker in red, yellow or green, may enter these zones. Without such a sticker, you are liable to a fine!
