Bahamas

Relations between the Bahamas and Germany are friendly and untroubled but not very intensive. There is good cooperation in the United Nations, where the Bahamas has frequently supported Germany in its choice of candidates and in other decisions.
Germany plays a minor role in the foreign trade of the Bahamas – volume is erratic with Germany traditionally in deficit. In 2007, German exports were worth EUR 38 million, declining to EUR 30 million in 2008. In 2007, German imports totalled EUR 131 million, increasing to EUR 151 million in 2008.
A draft text submitted by Germany for an agreement on investment protection and promotion continues to await examination by the Bahamian government, along with corresponding draft agreements from other interested countries, but there is unlikely to be a response in the foreseeable future.
There is no bilateral Financial or Technical Cooperation on account of the country's statistically high per-capita income (USD 21,314 in 2007).
