Human Rights Commissioner calls for the release of all political prisoners

On the occasion of Human Rights Day on 10 December, Günter Nooke, Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid, today (9 December) called upon all governments to release political prisoners:
“Nothing is more unworthy of a government that wants to be taken seriously on the international stage and has a voice in the United Nations than arresting defenceless people only because they state their opinion peacefully and openly or live their faith.”
