Germany and Poland

Following German reunification in 1990 and the momentous changes sweeping Central and Eastern Europe, political and economic relations between Germany and Poland acquired a new and impressive dynamism. With the German-Polish Treaty of 17 June 1991 on Good Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation, the foundations were laid for the development of intensive and wide-ranging ties. Both countries recognize that in many areas they have common interests and this gives their relationship a special and distinctive quality.
