The last few years have seen the development of an avant-garde fashion scene in Africa that now inspires and excites the international fashion community. The new generation of African designers have settled in Paris, London and New York, as well as in Antananarivo, Marrakech, Dakar and Johannesburg. The German premiere of this pan-African fashion show featuring the continent’s best designers will be presented by Anna Getaneh on 9 June at the Federal Foreign Office.

Who knows tomorrow – this saying, common all across Africa, is the title of a special project hosted by the National Gallery. Five internationally renowned artists, whose work is characterized by their African backgrounds, will be featured in an exhibition in Berlin from 4 June to 26 September

Africa's top musical talent will grace stages in Würzburg from May 21-24 as part of the acclaimed Africa Festival. In addition to music, there are a variety of activities organized to offer audiences a multi-dimensional perspective of this diverse and fascinating continent. This is the 22nd time the festival is being held and its country focus for 2010 is South Africa, host to the upcoming World Cup.

The Filmmuseum Potsdam is devoting over a week (27 May - 2 June) to South African films made in Johannesburg and taking Johannesburg as their subject material. At the time of the screenings the final round of the FIFA World Cup will be about to commence in South Africa – the first African country to host the event.
