Ceremony in the Federal Foreign Office marking the 25th anniversary of the E.ON Ruhrgas scholarship fund

The E.ON Ruhrgas scholarship fund marked its 25th anniversary with a ceremony in the Europasaal at the Federal Foreign Office on 22 October. In the presence of Peter Ammon, State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office, and the Norwegian Ambassador to Germany, Sven Erik Svedman, some 300 German and Norwegian alumni of the scholarship fund, representatives of the institutions supporting the fund and other guests from the two countries celebrated the many successful years of mutual student and academic exchanges.

1. Belgian-German conference on science and education

The first Belgian-German conference, entitled “Partners in Innovation and Education”, was held in the Palace of the Academies in Brussels on 14/15 October 2009. The subjects “science and research” and “education” were considered separately.

The conference was intended to show the German public, but also the participating experts, the intensive links that already exist between the two countries in the field of scientific cooperation and to point to evolving prospects.

2009 German Science and Research Days in Ukraine

The German Science and Research Days in Ukraine take place within the scope of the Federal Foreign Office’s global Research and Academic Relations Policy Initiative 2009. In keeping with the initiative’s motto, “Connecting worlds of knowledge”, Germany and Ukraine can already point to a long tradition of joint research. The 2009 German Science and Research Days in Ukraine continue and consolidate this tradition.

Research and academic relations policy conference on 19/20 January 2009

The Research and Academic Relations Policy Initiative 2009 has got underway. On 19 January Federal Foreign Minister Steinmeier opened the conference “Connecting worlds of knowledge”, setting the focus for research and academic relations policy this year.

More than 350 participants from some 60 countries came to the Federal Foreign Office over the two days of the conference to discuss the aims and expectations, results and successes of research and academic relations policy.
