Transatlantic Coordinator travels to Los Angeles and Boston

30.09.2015

The Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation, Jürgen Hardt, is in Los Angeles and Boston for talks from 30 September to 3 October. In Boston, Jürgen Hardt will, among other things, give a speech at the event marking the 25th anniversary of German reunification.

Ahead of his departure Jürgen Hardt commented as follows:

The diversity and intensity of crises around the world has driven home to us very clearly how necessary intensive transatlantic cooperation is. Especially at present, we are witnessing efforts to coordinate closely on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York.

I would like to use my trip to intensify the close dialogue in a spirit of mutual trust with representatives of the US Congress and of US civil society, particularly beyond the capital Washington and the UN Headquarters in New York.

In Los Angeles, I am also looking forward to my talks with representatives of the Jewish community there. Traditionally, it forms a very special link in the transatlantic network of relations.

My talks in Boston and Los Angeles will also focus on how the international community can succeed in verifiably implementing the agreement reached with Iran following difficult negotiations – the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action – so that security can be increased in the entire region.
