German-Hungarian Forum to be held at the Federal Foreign Office

The 23rd annual conference of the German-Hungarian Forum will take place at the Federal Foreign Office on 28 and 29 November.

Over the two days around 150 experts from the fields of politics, business, academia and the media will shed light on topical issues affecting German-Hungarian relations and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. Subjects will include the economic situation and the strengthening of bilateral relations as well as current challenges facing the European Union.

Elmar Brok, Chairman of the German-Hungarian Forum and Member of the European Parliament, and Professor Péter Balázs, Co‑Chairman of the Forum, will open the meeting at 3 p.m. on 28 November. Dr Peter Schoof, Director for Basic Issues of EU External Relations and Relations with EU Member States, will welcome the guests on behalf of the Federal Foreign Office. From 4.45 p.m. a discussion panel comprising German and Hungarian politicians will then focus on the future of the European Union from a German and a Hungarian perspective.

At midday on 29 November a speech by Günther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Energy, will wind up the Forum.
