14.11.2013

On Friday, 15 November, Foreign Minister Westerwelle will deliver a keynote speech on the eve of the XXIV Congress of the Union of European Federalists (UEF) at the Federal Foreign Office, in which he will explore the future of the European Union and Germany’s role in Europe.

The UEF is a supranational non-governmental organisation with over 50,000 members from 37 European countries. The Congress will focus in particular on the forthcoming European Parliamentary elections in May 2014. Some 300 people are expected to attend the Congress in the Federal Foreign Office over the course of the coming weekend.

The opening session will also feature a panel debate with seasoned European politicians on possible integration models for the future. Minister of State Georg Michael Link will represent the Federal Foreign Office on the panel.
