World Health Summit 2013 at the Federal Foreign Office

The World Health Summit 2013, one of the leading strategic fora in the area of global health, will be held at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin from 20 to 22 October. Speakers will include Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, Federal Health Minister Daniel Bahr and SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner.

The patrons of the World Health Summit, which attracts more than 1000 participants from over 80 countries to Berlin each year, are Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, France’s President François Hollande and EU Commission President José Manuel Barroso.

Over three days, international experts will discuss topics such as

- The Middle East: healthcare systems in times of political and financial crisis

- Sustainable food and a healthy environment

- Genomics and public health: How can achievements in high-end medicine be transferred to the field of public health?

- Innovative healthcare financing: example of Rwanda, where well over 90% of the population have health insurance.
