The European Union has recognized Asia as a priority region. The community of states develops its relations with Asia on the basis of the European Commission’s strategies for Asia (2001) and South-East Asia (2003). The oldest regional cooperation exits with ASEAN.

150 years of German-Japanese friendship
“There shall be eternal peace and constant friendship between Their Majesties the King of Prussia and the Tycoon of Japan, as well as between their heirs and successors,” reads the first paragraph of a treaty - concluded in 1861. And still today the countries enjoy friendly and warm bilateral relations.
